So, I've been gardening.

Posted by 7ceeeee - June 9th, 2012

A lot.

Pumpkins, melons, pretty flowers, etc. :D Good stuff. Pretty much the only plants I'd ever wanted to grow were pumpkins and melons (the former because of Halloween, the latter because, hey, melons), but after planting some Atlantic Giant pumpkins and Crimson Sweet watermelons, I suddenly wanted to grow tons of other things, seeing how gardening suddenly became ridiculously fun for me after years of despising it. I'm currently on a planting spree.

You know, I don't even know why the hell I made this post. Also, I want Halloween season to come.

Good luck and watch out for the deer and/or groundhogs.
I got my watermelons in, but the pumpkins.... yeah, they should be in the ground by now :P
Watch you don't get too many bud-flowers on one plant - don't be afraid to snip em off to give the other buds a chance to get big.

Thanks! I've made a natural spray to keep various insects away (although hopefully not butterflies) and I've planted some foxgloves and salvias to (hopefully) keep the rabbits away. I don't think I'll have any problems with deer or groundhogs, thankfully, but I probably will have some trouble with birds. I haven't figured out what I'm going to do about them, yet...

Yeah, the Atlantic Giant pumpkins I got apparently have a solid 96% germination rate: they weren't kidding, every one of them sprouted! I got them off of Amazon. Just search "Pumpkin Dills Atlantic Giant 15 Seeds". I also have Sugar Pie and Rival PMR pumpkin seeds, but I'll probably have to wait a little while before I get to planting them, just so I'll hopefully have them for Halloween.

I'm going to experiment with the Atlantic Giants. I'll probably leave a few buds on one of the plants but leave only one bud for each of the other plants.

WAATERRMELOONS.
